Cheap Trick is an American rock band formed in Rockford, Illinois, in 1974. Since then the band consists of the original line-up, i.e. of Rick Nielsen, Tom Petersson, Bun E. Carlos and Robin Zander. Their music is combining Beatles- like sound with speed and energy of punk rock. They are called “American Beatles” in Japan for example. It was Japan which made them popular in the US. The band rose to fame in Japan at first having recorded there a live album Cheap Trick at Budokan. It was intended that this record was only for Japan, but Epic Records issued it in the US due to its smashing popularity in Japan.
