Yanni, birth name Yiannis Hrysomallis is a Greek new-age composer born on November 14, 1954 in Kalamata, Greece. At the age of 18, he moved to the USA and attended the University of Minnesota where he received his Bachelor degree in Philosophy. At that time, he met the university band Chameleon and became their keyboardist. Yana was a self-taught pianist and that is why he did not know how to read notes and how to compose music. He invented his own rhythm system and his own “notes” and thus he could compose music and perform it perfectly. He debuted in 1984 releasing the album “Opt mystique”. After that, he was signed by Private Music Records, which released his second album “Keys to Imagination”. The last his album Yanni Voices and Yanni Voces was released in 2009.
