Robert Dwayne Womack, known better as Bobby Womack was born on March 4, 1944 in Cleveland, Ohio, United States. He’s an American singer-songwriter and musician having covered such genres like R & B, soul, rock and roll, doo-wop, gospel and country. He began his career in 1960s and he has released numerous albums and singles though none of them reached the top spot of the charts. He began his career as the lead singer of his family band The Valentinos and Sam Cooke’s backing guitarist. In 1968 he signed with Minit Records and released his debut single “What Is This” beginning his solo career. As the songwriter he’s best known for the first UK number one Rolling Stone’s single “It’s All over Now”.
