American country music singer and musician Waylon Jennings (June 15, 1937 – February 13, 2002) was born in Littlefield, Texas, US. At the age of eight, he began playing guitar and two years later, he founded his first band. During this time, he met Buddy Holly who was heavily inspired by the music style of Smokey Mayfield, Herbert Mayfield, and Edd Mayfield. At the age of 21, he along with Holly formed a new band. Later, guitarist Tommy Allsup and drummer Carl "Goose" Bunch joined the band and they began touring throughout the Midwest. In 1959, the charter airplane carrying Buddy Holly crashed. After four years of inactivity, he began performing in Phoenix, Arizona. There he signed a contract with A&M Records. He became popular as a solo artist with the hit singles such as "Anita, You're Dreaming", "(That's What You Get) For Lovin' Me", "Green River", "The Chokin' Kind", "Walk On Out of My Mind", "Only Daddy That'll Walk the Line", "Brown Eyed Handsome Man", "The Taker" and many others.
