Transplants are an American punk rock/hip-hop supergroup formed in 1999 by Tim Armstrong from the band Rancid. He played some tunes to his friend Rob Aston and asked if he could provide lyrics for this melody. At first Tim played all the instruments but later invited other musicians to join. So the original line-up consisted of Tim Armstrong (Rancid), Matt Freeman (Rancid), Lars Frederiksen (Rancid), Vic Ruggiero (The Slackers) and of Travis Barker (Blink-182). The band’s style can be characterized by the mixing of different genres like punk rock, hip hop, reggae, dun, drum n bass. The band released their debut album Transplants in 2002. The album spawned two singles “Diamonds and Guns” and “D.J. D.J.” which were rotated by MTV and gained commercial success and popularity for the band.
