Tommy Emmanuel

Australian guitarist and songwriter Tommy Emmanuel was born on May 31, 1955 in Muswellbrook, New South Wales, Australia. Tommy has been playing guitar since the age 4 when he was presented his first guitar. When he was 9, he was already a professional musician. His father noticed the great talents of Tommy and his brother Phil and created a family band. Tommy spent his childhood touring across Australia and rarely going to school. Later he moved to Sydney where he rose to the national prominence. He won several local contests in his teens and then played in several bands as a lead guitarist. He was a backing musician and toured also with Tina Turner and eventually he embarked on solo career. His debut solo album From Out of Nowhere was released in 1979.
