Tocotronic

Tocotronic is a German alternative rock band formed in Hamburg, Germany in 1993. The current band members are Dirk von Lowtzow – vocals, rhythm guitar, Jan Müller – bass, Arne Zank – drums and Rick McPhail – lead guitar, keyboard. The band is part of Hamburger Schule movement. They reached the local popularity and signed with independent label L’Age d’Or in 1994. The debut album Digital ist Besser (Digital is Better) was released in 1995. The band did not reach the great commercial success in the beginning, yet they built a strong fanbase. The band won VIVA Award for “Jung, deutsch und auf dem Weg nach oben“(Young, promising German band) but refused it to take. The band toured in the U.S. supporting their album K.O.O.K.
