Syd Barrett

Roger Keith Barrett, better known as Syd Barrett was an English musician and singer-songwriter born on January 6, 1946 in Cambridge, England and died on July 7, 2006 in Cambridge, England. He is known best of all as the founding member of a psychedelic rock band Pink Floyd. Though he didn’t spend a lot of time with the band, he determined the main stylistics of the band’s early works. He left the band in 1968 and started a solo career. It also didn’t last for too long. He ended his music career in 1972 and went on self-imposed seclusion. Most part of his rest life he lived in his mother’s semi-detached home in Cambridge. He was fond of gardening and created abstract paintings.
