String Cheese Incident

The String Cheese Incident, also known as SCI is an American jam band from Boulder, Colorado, the United States that was formed in 1993. The band members include Bill Nershi(acoustic guitar, lap steel guitar, and electric slide guitar), Michael Kang(acoustic/electric mandolin, electric guitar, and violin), Michael Travis(drums and percussion), Keith Moseley(bass guitar) and Kyle Hollingsworth(piano, organ, Rhodes, and accordion). The band also had an auxiliary percussionist Jason Hann for one year. The band’s sound can be classified as progressive bluegrass with influences from rock, calypso, country, funk, jazz, Latin, reggae, and psychedelia. The band began their career playing at ski resorts and at private parties but later, they decided that it was time for a serious move.
