Stray Cats are an American rockabilly band formed in Long Island, New York, the United States in 1979. The band was founded by singer and guitarist Brian Setzer with two his friends Lee Rocker (bass) and Slim Jim Phantom (drums). The band reached the peak of their popularity in the early 80s having released several hit singles. The band was more popular in the UK than in the US. After one of the shows in London, the band met producer Dave Edmunds who offered them to work with them. Soon, the band released their debut self-titled album in the UK and it did quite well peaking at 6 on the UK Albums chart. The next album Gonna Ball was released the same year and only in the UK. Some of the hits from that period include such songs like “Runaway Boys”, “Rock This Town”, “Stray Cut Strut”.
