Squeeze

English new wave, power pop and indie rock band Squeeze from London, England, was formed in 1974. The band comprises Chris Difford, Glenn Tilbrook, John Bentley, Stephen Large and Simon Hanson. All the band's hit singles were written by Glenn Tilbrook and Chris Difford. They achieved mainstream success with their fourth and breakthrough album, East Side Story, which spawned several singles such as "Messed Around", "Labelled With Love", "Is That Love" and "Tempted". The album contained many songs, which were influenced by R&B, blue-eyed soul and psychedelia. For this album the band moved from their usual sound. East Side Story also yielded the group's last top 10 UK hit single, "Labelled With Love". This track had a very fascinating story because Tilbrook initially felt that the single was too country-and-western sounding and did not want to record it.
