Smokey Robinson

William Robinson Jr., known better as Smokey Robinson was born on February 19, 1940 in Detroit, Michigan, the United States. He is an American R&B and soul singer-songwriter, record producer and record executive. He is strongly associated with Motown Records as he was its vice-president from 1961 to 1988. He has contributed a lot to the label especially when it concerns the commercial success, thus he got a moniker “King of Motown”. He was also inducted in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. Robinson was a part of the band The Miracles and rose to fame being its member. Later he embarked on a successful solo career and reached the popularity with his hit single number one "Baby That's Backatcha". Some other his hits are "Cruisin'", "Being With You", "Tell Me Tomorrow" and "Ebony Eyes". He continues releasing records and one of his latest releases is Timeless Love (2006).
