Sir Mix a Lot

Sir Mix-a-lot, birth name Anthony Ray was born on August 12, 1963 in Seattle, Washington, the United States. He is an American emcee and producer and the founder of the Nastymix record label. He released his debut album Swass in 1988. Finally, the album was certified Platinum. It contained hip hop cover for the Black Sabbath’s “Iron Man”. Then, Ray signed a major label and released his next album Mack Daddy in 1992. That was the real breakthrough to the mainstream success. The album yielded a hit single “Baby Got Back”. It reached the top spot of the American Rap charts and won Grammy Award for Best Rap Solo Performance. Ray continued to release albums but he couldn’t repeat the same success.
