Shearwater

Shearwater are an American indie rock, folk rock and psych folk band formed in Austin, Texas, the United States in 1999. The band was founded by Jonathan Meiburg and Will Sheff from Okkervil River band. They decided to create the band for lower songs that didn’t suit Okkervil. The current members are Jonathan Meiburg, Thor Harris, Kim Burke, Jordan Geiger, and Kevin Schneider. The band is signed to Matador Records. They have released six studio albums, one split album and two extended plays. The band is closely connected with birds – it can be seen from their name to the name of some songs. Meiburg is an ornithologist. Their 2008 album Rook received positive reviews from the critics, especially from Allmusic, Pitchfork Media, Blender, the Skinny and others.
