She and Him

She and Him are an American indie folk duo formed in 2006 in Portland, Oregon, the United States. The duo composes of Zooey Deschanel – vocals, piano, banjo and M. Ward – guitar, production. They are joined by session musicians Rachel Blumberg (drums), Mike Mogis (pedal steel guitar, mandolin) and Mike Coykendall (bass, guitar). Ward and Deschanel met each other on the set of the film the Go-Getter. Later, Deschanel sent her demos to Ward and he was surprised that she had not started a music career. They teamed up recorded the album and released the debut effort titled Volume One in 2008. The next album Volume Two earned more publicity and reached number 6 on the Billboard 200.
