Shawn Colvin is an American singer-songwriter born on January 10, 1956 in Vermillion, South Dakota, the United States. She learned to play guitar at the age of 10 and performed her first concert when she was 15. One of her major influences is Joni Mitchell. Colvin covers such genres like rock and contemporary folk. She began her music career in the 1970s; however, the debut album was released only in 1989. Several consecutive albums were sold very poor and the albums didn’t receive any acclaim from the critics, even her cover album “Cover Girl”. The breakthrough to the mainstream success happened in 1996 with her album A Few Small Repairs. The album went on Platinum. It spawned a hit single “Sunny Came Home” which earned two Grammys for “Song of the Year” and “Record of the Year”. The last her album is titled These Four Walls.
