Shaman

Finnish folk metal band Shaman from Lahti, Finland, was formed in 1993. The band's most used elements are the shamanic drum, yoik and humppa. The musical style of the band is quite distinctive. Besides yoik, the vocals vary from clean to rather aggressive growling. Their demo single, Ođđa máilbmi, was released in 1998. In 1999, Shaman released their first album, Idja, which you may download in mp3 from our site. The album was produced by Roope Latvala, best known as the guitarist of the Finnish metal bands Children of Bodom and Sinergy. The band's second and last album, Shamániac, was released in 2002. In 2003, a member of the band Jonne Järvelä disbanded the group, and formed Korpiklaani, with the music style to a more conventional folk metal with folk/thrash vocals instead of yoiking. Shamániac already featured much of the future Korpiklaani style.
