Serj Tankian

Armenian-American alternative metal, experimental rock and art rock and musician Serj Tankian was born on August 21, 1967, in Beirut, Lebanon. He rose to fame in the mid-1990 as a lead vocalist, keyboardist and rhythm guitarist of the Grammy Award-winning alternative rock band System of a Down. In 2001, they released their most successful multi-platinum album, Toxicity, which reached number one in the US and in Canada. He achieved mainstream success as a solo artist in 2007 with his breakthrough album, Elect the Dead, which produced several singles such as "The Unthinking Majority", "Empty Walls", "Lie Lie Lie" and "Sky Is Over".
