Sergio Mendes

Sérgio Santos Mendes, known better as Sergio Mendes is a Brazilian musician born on February 11, 1941 in Niterói, Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. He is also a bandleader, pianist, composer and arranger playing in such genres like bossa nova, samba, soft rock, Latin pop, Latin jazz and lounge music. His wife Gracinha Leporace provides him vocals on a regular basis. Mendes achieved mainstream success not only in his native Brazil, but also in the United States when he performed the song “The Look of Love”. The song was written by Burt Bacharach and Hal David. It was nominated for Oscar. After 1968, Mendes was the biggest internationally known Brazilian musician. He was giving the concert in the White House for Presidents Lyndon B.
