Ron Carter

Ron Carter is an American jazz double-bassist born on May 4, 1937 in Ferndale, Michigan, the United States. He started his music efforts at the age of 10 playing cello, but because of racial stereotypes, he had to switch to bass. He quickly established himself as a talented and outstanding bassist. His first recordings were in 1960. In 1963, he became a member of Miles Davis quintet, which pushed him to prominence. Being a part of a big band, he recorded as a leader as well. Some of his leading releases are Golden Striker, The Bass and I, When the Skies are Grey, Stardust, Parade and others. You can download these albums by Ron Carter in mp3 from our site. He recorded not only with Miles Davis, but also with Herbie Hancock, Horace Silver, Charles Tolliver, McCoy Tyner and with many others. During his career, he has contributed to the score of Desperate Characters movie (1971).
