Japanese hip hop band Rip Slyme from Kanagawa, was founded in 1994. The band's current line-up comprises Ryo-Z (Ryouji Narita), Ilmari (Keisuke Ogihara), Pes (Masatsugu Chiba), Su (Kazuto Ootsuki) and Fumiya (Fumiya Takeuchi). Originally, the act was crated by Ryo-Z and Ilmari. The band's name came from a famous children's toy. In the late 1990s, they released their breakthrough album, Talkin' Cheap, which earned a deal with Warner Music Group for the act. After this deal, they started recording their follow-up album, Tokyo Classic, which was released in 2002. This record has been certified platinum two timed in Japan and became number five there. The album's singles were "Introduction- CHICKEN" (featuring Breakestra), "By the Way", "Tokyo Classic", "One", "Banzai" and "Hanabi". Tokyo Classic also received mainly positive critical acclaim.
