Rieu, Andre

Dutch violinist, conductor, and classical composer André Rieu (birth name André Léon Marie Nicolas Rieu) was born on October 1, 1949, in Maastricht, The Netherlands. He was born into a musical family, so it isn't surprising that he began studying violin when he was only five years old. From 1968 to 1973, he studied violin at the Conservatoire Royal in Liège. He began the professional career when he was a student. During his education at University, he performed the Gold And Silver Waltz by Franz Lehár. He was very praises by audience. He decided to continue the success and formed the Maastricht Salon Orchestra. In 2008, he released his solo breakthrough album, Waltzing Matilda, which peaked at number one on the Australian ARIA Albums Chart. It included the hits, "Waltzing Matilda", "Wiener Melange" and "Scarborough Fair". Now, you may download André Rieu's compilation album, Greatest Hits, in mp3 from our site.
