Richard Ashcroft

Richard Paul Ashcroft, better known as Richard Ashcroft, is an English rock musician and singer-songwriter born on September 11, 1971 in Billinge, Lancashire, England. He is primary known as the lead singer in the rock band The Verve that existed from 1990 till 1999. Ashcroft was the founder of the band along with college friends. The band rose to fame with their hit album Urban Hymns (1997). The album spawned a worldwide smashing hit “Bitter Sweet Symphony” which charted in many countries. The Verve faced splits and reunions and they broke up in 2009 for the third time. Meanwhile, Ashcroft began his solo career. The debut single “A Song for the Lovers” was released in 2000, peaking at number 3 in the UK. This is his best solo achievement so far. The single features the debut album Alone with Everybody.
