Recoil

Recoil is a music project created by former Depeche Mode member Alan Wilder in 1986. The project started when Wilder was still in Depeche Mode. He experimented with sound just for himself till the time when the Mute Records Director Daniel Miller heard his recordings and asked him to record them in studio. The music was les pop-oriented and it was impossible to play it within Depeche Mode. The debut release was issued in 1986 as an EP. In two years later he released the next album Hydrology but as he was still with Depeche Mode he didn’t have any time for promoting his work. Eventually in 1995 he left the band in order to devote himself only to Recoil. Since that time he has released three studio albums Unsound Methods, Liquid and Subhuman.
