Indian hindustani classical music composer and sitar player Ravi Shankar was born on 7 April 1920, in Varanasi, United Provinces, British Raj. He is well known as a composer who crated the music for The Apu Trilogy films. His music style is heavily influenced by the rhythm practices of Carnatic music. He emerged on the international music scene in the mid-1950 with his debut album, Three Ragas, which included three tracks. Later, he signed a contract with Angel Records. He came to prominence in the middle 1960s with his one of the most successful albums, Sound of the Sitar, which produced several singles such as "Raga Malkauns (Alap)", "Raga Malkauns (Jor)", "Tala Sawari" and "Pahari Dhun (Instrumental)".
