Pylon

Pylon is an American rock band formed in Athens, Georgia, the United States in 1978. The band was founded by four art students at the University of Georgia in Athens. Since then the line-up hasn’t changed despite several hiatuses. Therefore, the band members are Michael Lochowski (bass guitar), Curtis Crowe (guitar) and Vanessa Briscoe Hay (vocals). Guitarist Randall Brewley was with the band till his death in February 2009. The band’s name was taken after the novel by William Faulkner. The band’s sound can be described as New Wave, post-punk, jungle pop and alternative rock. The band is considered influential on the 80s American underground pop scene. R.E.M. helped Pylon to establish their reputation, pointing that they (R.E.M.) weren’t the best group in America, but Pylon was. You can download Pylon’s Gyrate LP in mp3 from our site.
