Possessed

Possessed is an American death metal band formed in San Francisco Bay Area, California, the United States in 1983. The band’s current line-up composes of Jeff Becerra (vocals and bass), Ernesto Bueno (guitar), Rick Cortez (guitar), Bay Cortez (bass guitar) and Emilio Marquez (drums). The band is considered the first death metal act ever. They have been cited to influence the whole death metal genre and even the name of the genre is supposed to come from their debut demo “Death Metal”. The band has overcome break-ups and finally they reunited in 2007. The band has released two studio albums. The debut one Seven Churches was praised by critics and fans for its brutality and speed vocals, while the second album Beyond the Gates was a disappointment.
