Supreme Pontiff of the Catholic Church and Sovereign of Vatican City Pope John Paul II (Polish - Jan Pawel II, Italian: Giovanni Paolo II, Latin: Ioannes Paulus PP II), birth name Karol Józef Wojtyła was born on May 18 1920 in Wadiwoce, Poland and died on April 2, 2005 in Apostolic palace, Vatican City. He is regarded as one of the most influential leaders of the 20th century, being an instrument of the end of communist era in his home Poland and in all other Europe. He also improved and developed further relations between Roman Catholic Church and Judaism, Eastern Orthodox Church and Anglican Communion. He was fluent in many languages like Italian, English, German, French, Latin, Ancient Greek, and Russian. He also travelled a lot around the world and became of the most-travelled world leaders.
