Onika Tanya Maraj better known under her stage name Nicki Minaj is a Trinidadian hip hop recording artist. She was born on December 8, 1984 in St James, Port of Spain, Trinidad and Tobago. She is rapper and singer-songwriter. She names many musicians being her influences including Lil Wayne, Missy Elliott, Jadakiss, Foxy Brown and many others. During her career she received many awards namely BET Award (Best Female Hip hop artist, Best New Artist, Best Group), MTV video music awards (Best New Artist “Massive Attack” and 2010 Teen Choice Awards (Choice Breakout Artist – Female). She released her debut studio album Pink Friday in November 2010. The album quickly became a hit – it reached number 2 on the Billboard 200 and number 1 on the US Rap chart.
