New Breed

The New Breed were a Canadian punk rock band formed in Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada in 1997. The band’s line-up consisted of Dave Robertson (guitar), Lionel Stanly (guitar/mandolin), Brian Whalen (bass), Alec Oickle (drums) and of Jonny Stevens (vocals). The band’s music can be describes as a fusion of street punk, working class rock and roll and of Celtic folk. The latter is explained by frequent use of mandolin in their arrangements. The band’s sound was compared with the Clash, Dropkick Murphys and Swingin' Utters. The band split in 2005. During their career, they have released three long-plays and one 7 inch. They also contributed their songs for some compilations, like Brewed in Canada, War Music, Hard Working Music 2, Mayday! and some others.
