Natalie Merchant

American pop rock and rock musician and songwriter Natalie Merchant was born on October 26, 1963, in Jamestown, New York, USA. As a child, she liked to play the piano and sing various songs. So when she grew up she decided to join the alternative rock band 10,000 Maniacs. And in 1981, she rose to fame as a member of this band. In 1993, she left 10,000 Maniacs. She wanted to begin her solo career. In 1995, she released her breakthrough debut album, Tigerlily, which yielded four singles, "Wonder", "Beloved Wife", "River" and "Carnival".
