Nappy Roots

Nappy Roots is an American hip hop group formed in Bowling Green, Kentucky in 1995. The group composes of Skinny DeVille, B. Stille, Ron Clutch, Big V and of Fish Scales. The sixth member R. Prophet left the band in order to start a solo career. The group emerged on the Southern rap scene in the end of 1990s releasing their debut album Country Fried Cess. The album was independently released and caught the attention of the major labels. The group was signed by Atlantic Records. In 2002, they released their major label debut "Watermelon, Chicken & Gritz". The album was certified Platinum, reaching number 3 on the R&B and Hip-hop albums chart. The second and the last album released through Atlantic was Wooden Leather. It wasn’t so popular like the previous one, but it gained attention as well, being certified Gold.
