Monica Denise Arnold, professionally known as Monica is an American R&B singer and entertainer born on October 24, 1980 in College Park, Georgia, the United States. She began her music career joining Charles Thompson and the Majestics gospel choir that travelled around the U.S. In 1995, she decided to leave choir in favor of her solo music career. She signed a contract with Arista Records and released her debut album Miss Thang in 1995. She quickly gained the popularity as the album spawned three hit singles number one "Don't Take It Personal (Just One of Dem Days)", "Like This and Like That", and "Before You Walk out of My Life". Her second album The Boy Is Mine produced more hit singles like "The Boy Is Mine" (with Brandy), "The First Night" and "Angel of Mine".
