Misfits
American hardcore punk and heavy metal band Misfits from Lodi, New Jersey, was formed in 1977. The band comprises Jerry Only, Dez Cadena and Robo. Originally the band was formed by Glenn Danzig, who had previous experience performing in local bands. Naming the band after actress Marilyn Monroe's final film The Misfits (1961), Danzig recruited guitarist Jimmy Battle, bassist Diane DiPiazza, and drummer Manny Martínez to fill out the lineup while Danzig himself sang and played the electric piano. The influence which the Misfits have had on punk rock, and rock music in general, sometimes seems disproportionate to the publicity and critical attention they have received. In 2003, they released their most successful album, Project 1950, which consists completely of covers of old rock songs, mostly from the 50s and 60s.
