Midnight Oil, also known as The Oils are an Australian rock band formed in 1971 in Sydney, Australia. The band was founded under the name Farm and the original line-up composed of drummer Rob Hirst, bass guitarist Andrew James and keyboard player/lead guitarist Jim Moginie. The band began playing covers for Led Zeppelin, Cream and other band but after they changed the name for Midnight Oil, the band began writing their own material. The band has released 11 albums, 3 live albums, 2 compilation albums, 2 extended plays and many singles. The peak of the band’s career was in 1987 when they released their album Diesel and Dust. The album was supported by such singles "The Dead Heart", "Beds Are Burning", "Put Down that Weapon" and "Dreamworld". The album earned international fame for the band and charted in many countries.
