Mehrzad Marashi

Mehrzad Marashi is an Iranian-German pop and soul singer born on September 29, 1980 in Iran. His family had to leave the country because of the starting war, so they moved to Hamburg, Germany. Mehrzad wrote his first song at the age of 12. He was under influence of Xavier Naidoo, Lionel Richie and Boyz to Men. He always wanted to pursue a music career and attended the musical academy, however he had to cease his studies due to financial problems. He recorded some of his songs, put them on his YouTube page and soon he became an Internet sensation. However, bad luck waited for him again and none of his songs entered the charts. He successfully auditioned for Deutschland Sucht den Superstar talent show and won it. The final song “Don’t believe” reached number one in Germany, Austria, and Switzerland.
