Marina and The Diamonds

Marina Lambrini Diamandis, better known under her stage name Marina and the Diamonds is a Welsh singer-songwriter and musician born on October 10, 1985 in Abergavenny, Wales. She is half Welsh and half Greek. She began composing her own songs on the Apple software “Garageband”. The debut Mermaid Vs. Sailor EP was released in 2007 and distributed through her MySpace page. She sold about 70 copies. She was discovered by Derek Davies of Neon Gold Records. Thus, she opened for Gotye, an Australian singer and caught the attention of Warner Music Group. Later, she was signed to 679 Recordings. The debut album The Family Jewels was released in 2010. The album peaked at number 5 on the UK Albums chart, and also hit the top 10 in Greece and Ireland.
