Marcy Playground

Marcy Playground is an American alternative rock band from New York City, New York. The band was founded in 1996 and it currently features three core members John Wozniak (lead vocals, guitar), Dylan Keefe (bass), and Shlomi Lavie (drums). The band has been influenced a lot by Nirvana and by its frontman Kurt Cobain that can be seen on their debut self-titled album. Other influences include David Bowie, Jimi Hendrix, Van Morrison, Neil Young, the Beatles and others. The debut album Marcy Playground was released in 1997. The band quickly appeared in the mainstream success due to their hit single “Sex and Candy”. The single reached number one on the Hot Modern Rock Tracks and peaked at number 8 on the Billboard Hot 100. The album was certified Platinum and this is the best-selling band’s album to date.
