Manfred Mann

Manfred Mann were a British band playing pop, rhythm and blues and beat. The band was founded in London in 1962. The original band name was The Mann-Hugg Blues Brothers as the founding members were Manfred Mann (keyboards) and Mike Hugg (drums, vibes). Soon, the band was joined by other musicians like Mike Vickers (guitar, alto saxophone and flute), Dave Richmond (bass), and Paul Jones (frontman, lead vocalist and harmonica player). The name was changed for Manfred Mann & The Manfreds. They signed to HMV records in 1963 and the band’s names was changed to Manfred Mann after the producer’s suggestion. The band rose to fame making covers. Their first hit number one was a cover of a minor hit by the Exciters. "Do Wah Diddy Diddy" reached the top in the UK, U.S. and in Canada. The band split in 1969.
