Lyfe Jennings birth name Chester Jennings is an American R & B and soul singer-songwriter, record producer and instrumentalist. He was born on June 3, 1976 in Toledo, Ohio, United States. He plays guitar, piano and bass and New York Times labeled him as “socially minded R & B singer”. He began singing in Calvary Missionary Baptist Church but in 1992 his life was changed tremendously and he was put in jail for arson. While being there he continued writing music and strengthened his faith in God. He released in 2002 and began seriously pursuing his solo career. He has released three studio albums and gained the popularity quite quickly. His debut album Lyfe 268-192 sold about 1.1 million copies and was certified Platinum in the U.S. His next album Phoenix peaked at number two on U.S. charts.
