Lipps Inc.

American dance and disco music band Lipps Inc. from Minneapolis, was formed in 1978. It was active until 1985. The band comprised Cynthia Johnson, David Rivkin and other changing session musicians. They quickly gained popularity in the late 1970s with their breakthrough hit single, "Funkytown", which peaked at number one on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100 and Dance charts. It also reached number one in Austria, Switzerland, Norway and The Netherlands. At the same year, they released their debut album, Mouth to Mouth. In 1981, they released their following commercially successful album, Designer Music, which produced the singles such as "Designer Music", "Hold Me Down" and "The One".
