Lesley Garrett

English classical singer, songwriter, musician and broadcaster Lesley Garrett was born on 10 April 1955, in Thorne, Doncaster, South Yorkshire, England. As a teenager, she often performed in school plays and musicals. Later, she began to be interested in classical music. In the late 1970s, she won the Decca Prize of the Kathleen Ferrier Award. She came to prominence with her performances in the well-known operas including Serse, Le Nozze di Figaro, Così fan tutte and Die Fledermaus. She achieved mainstream success in the late 1990s with her breakthrough album, A Soprano Inspired, which produced the singles such as "Exsultate, Jubilate: Alleluia", "Ave Maria", "The Lord's Prayer", "Mass In C Minor: Laudamus te" and "Bless This House".
