La Oreja de Van Gogh

La Oreja de Van Gogh are a Spanish pop/pop-rock group formed in San Sebastian, Guipozcoa, Spain in 1996. The group composes of Pablo Benegas (guitar), Álvaro Fuentes (bass), Xabi San Martín (keyboards), Haritz Garde (drums) and of Leire Martínez (vocals). The band’s name refers to the famous painter Vincent van Gogh who cut himself his own ear. The band was working for a long time with their first vocalist Amaia Montero, but she left the band to pursue a solo career. The band has released five studio albums and sold many more then 6 million copies. During their career, they won Latin Grammy awards and were nominated for Grammy. The band rose to fame after they won local pop-rock festival in San Sebastian and released their debut album in 1998.
