Josh Ritter

Josh Ritter is an American folk rock singer-songwriter and musician born on October 21, 1976 in Moscow, Idaho, the United States. He was born in the family of neuroscientists, who also liked music besides science. At the age of 14 he heard Johnny Cash and Bob Dylan’s “Girl from the North Country” which was in the collection of his parents. This record inspired him to write his own songs on lute made by his father. Later he changed his instrument for guitar. Ritter attended Oberlin College and recorded his debut album Josh Ritter in the campus. For half a year, he moved to Scotland in order to study Scottish folk, then returned to the States and began playing at open mic nights and selling his albums.
