American country rock, blues rock and roots rock music singer, songwriter and guitarist John Fogerty (birth name John Cameron Fogerty) was born on May 28, 1945, in Berkeley, California, USA. As a teenager, he was heavily influenced by Little Richard and Bo Diddley. In the late 1950s, he and his brother Tom along with Doug Clifford and Stu Cook founded the Blue Velvets band. Several years later, they achieved their initial success in their hometown. As a result, they signed a contract with jazz record label Fantasy. After that deal, they changed the band's name and became the Golliwogs. He achieved success as a solo singer in the early 1970s with his debut album, The Blue Ridge Rangers, which produced several singles such as "Somewhere Listening (For My Name)", "You're the Reason", "Jambalaya (On the Bayou)" and "She Thinks I Still Care".
