John Butler Trio is an Australian jam band and eclectic roots band formed in 1995 in Fremantle, Australia. The band is led by John Butler (born on April 1, 1975 in Torrance, California). He is half-Australian and half-American. At the age of 11, he moved to Western Australia where he began playing guitar. The debut trio line-up composed of John Butler himself on guitar, Jason McGann on drums and Gavin Shoesmith on bass. This line-up recorded debut album John Butler in 1998 and went on their first tour. The current band’s line-up comprises John Butler, Bryon Luiters and Nicky Bomba. Two of the band’s albums Three and Living 2001-2002 went on Platinum. The album Three has become a breakthrough to the mainstream success and allowed the band to come to the American market.
