Jerry Garcia

Jerome John Garcia, known as Jerry Garcia was born on August 1, 1942 in San Francisco, California, the United States and died on August 9, 1995 in Forest Knolls, California, the U.S.A. He was an American musician played guitar, pedal steel guitar and banjo. He rose to fame as the member of the band The Grateful Dead where he was viewed as leader or the spokesman though he always denied this. He was one of the original founders of the band and played there from 1965 till 1995. He was lead guitarist and one of the vocalists and songwriters. He also took part in many side projects, like Sanders-Garcia band, Jerry Garcia Band, Old and in the Way, the Garcia/Grisman acoustic duo and Legion of Mary. He also contributed a lot to many other artists like session musician. He is ranked number 13 in the list of 100 Greatest Guitarists of All Time by Rolling Stone.
