Jermaine Dupri

Jermaine Dupri Mauldin, better known as Jermain Dupri or J.D. was born on September 23, 1972 in Asheville, North Carolina. He is an American rapper, record producer and songwriter. He began his career as a producer working with child rap group Kriss Kross. Later he produced Da Brat, Usher, Bow Wow and Mariah Carey among others. Being a producer, he has nine number one songs on the Billboard Hot 100. He is also a solo rap artist. His debut album 12 Soulful Nights of Christmas was released in 1996 but didn’t get any significant popularity. The breakthrough to the mainstream success happened in 1998 when he released Life in 1472. The album was certified Platinum and reached number 3 on the Billboard 200.
