Jay Sean

Kamaljit Singh Jhooti, better known under his stage name Jay Sean is a British singer-songwriter, rapper and beatboxer born on March 26, 1983 in Hounslow, West London, the UK. He rose to fame as a member of Rishi Richi Project, an Asian underground music act. He was signed to Virgin Records as a solo artist then and embarked on solo career. He released his debut album Me Against Myself in 2004. The album was critically acclaimed and Jay Sean was even called “Asian Sensation”. His music is a unique blend of R&B, British hip hop and Indian music. However, the album didn’t reach Top 20 on the UK Albums chart, but it was very well received in India where it sold about 2 million copies. He released two more albums. My own Way in 2008 and All or Nothing in 2009. The last album spawned a hit single Down (feat. Lil Wayne) that reached number 1 on the Billboard Hot 100.
