John Francis Anthony Pastorius III, better known under his stage name Jaco Pastorius was born on December 1, 1951 in Norristown, Pennsylvania, the United States and died on September 21, 1987 in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, the United States. He was an American musician, songwriter and producer, primary known for his outstanding jazz bass skills. He suffered from bipolar disorder, which was diagnosed in 1982. He was inducted in Down Beat Hall of Fame, being one of the few bass players who were honored in such a way. He is considered one of the most influential bassists. During his career, he has released quite a number of albums including live albums – The Birthday Concert, Invitation, Live in Italy, Curtain Call.
